My First Mother’s Day

Although the weather outside is frightful (which cuts into my plans of running and hiking with my family), inside we are cozy and warm.  My son (who has already pooed twice this morning) is sitting in his buzzy chair and we all know what that means.  He has returned from the store with my husband with a lovely card (my son even added his own signature to it) and now the house has the smell of bacon wafting through it — de-lish!  To add to our family this weekend, we have our friend’s dog named Clyde who is enjoying dog camp with Maggie and Sam.  Of course, I think that Clyde misses his peeps as evidenced by his climbing in bed with Duffer and I last night.

Sammy and Clyde Ride Again

You can see how big Clyde is compared to our muscle guy Sam.  I had lots of great cards from folks this week that made me smile.  I think my dad’s card was the most humorous and one that I wish I could reuse for a couple of my friends.  I do however apologize to all moms connected to me that your cards have not been sent.  A large presentation on Friday and some computer issues (dropping it — oops) but a dent in our time this week and getting it all done.  Not really a good excuse, but life for us.  However, we send a very, very Happy Mother’s Day out to all of you!

I am reevaluating my plans for the day, but have enjoyed hanging around on the floor this morning with my rolling fiend of a son.  He may not be able to crawl, but he can cover great distance on the floor in seconds with his stylish spinning.  My son and husband gave me an itouch yesterday as a combo Mother’s Day/Birthday present (not until June, but close enough) and I am addicted.  While my son slept in the bed last night and Clyde perfumed the air with his farting I was curled up in my down comforter and mound of pillows surfing the web, tweeting (?), and figuring out what types of free apps I could download.  I was very close to downloading some Jane Austen to read.  Totally addicting.  I figured out how to download an app for Shutterfly so now when folks say, “Do you have a picture of your son?”  I can say, “YES!”  I still need to put some music on the iTouch, but I want to be a little more selective with the songs since I still use my iPod nano in the car and that works fine.  Did I ever thing I would enter the 21st Century…no, but alas I am there.  Who knew this would happen when I spent hours in my room listening to Wham on my Fisher Price record player .  It took forever for me to change to tapes, cds, etc.  Now my friends, I am off to do some instant messaging in the form of snuggling with my son — technology can’t replace everything!  Happy Mom’s Day!
